Hyderabad: The central government, for the first time, has announced the establishment of a world-class Centre of Excellence on Energy Transition (CoEET) in Hyderabad. This landmark initiative, spearheaded by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with The Energy Research Institute (TERI), aims to combat climate change, while enhancing energy efficiency to support economic growth and human well-being.

Milind Deora, representing BEE, and Girish Seth, Director of TERI, signed the MoU in the presence of Union Minister of Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Power, remarked: “The Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition is a bold and transformative initiative that underscores India’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals. By fostering cutting-edge research, collaboration, and innovation, the Centre will act as a catalyst for clean energy adoption, enabling us to lead the global transition to a low-carbon economy. This partnership between BEE and TERI sets a benchmark for future collaborations in the energy sector.”

As a premier knowledge hub, CoEET will drive India’s clean energy transition and advancing its ambitious Net Zero emissions target by 2070.
