In a decisive escalation under Operation Sindoor, India has neutralized Pakistan’s air defence systems in Lahore following drone and missile attacks on Indian military installations. The Indian response combined precision air defence assets with advanced drone technology, aiming to counter mounting cross-border aggression.
According to the Defence Ministry, India deployed its Integrated Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems Grid (ICUG), Israeli-made Harpy drones, and reportedly, the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra system to dismantle radar and missile defense positions across the border. The retaliation came after Pakistan launched coordinated drone and missile strikes on multiple locations across Northern and Western India, including Jammu, Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Bhuj.
While India emphasized that Operation Sindoor remains “non-escalatory,” the precision of the strikes and choice of high-value defence targets signaled a firm warning. Indian forces reportedly destroyed critical Pakistani radar installations using Harpy drones—autonomous loitering munitions designed to home in on radar emissions and neutralize them without human guidance.
The Harpy’s unique capability to strike deep into contested airspace, even without GPS support, allowed Indian forces to effectively suppress enemy air defences. Meanwhile, the activation of the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra system by the Indian Air Force ensured that Pakistani drones and missiles were intercepted before causing major damage.
Though official confirmation on the extent of damage is awaited, sources indicate that India’s response matched Pakistan’s aggression “in domain and intensity.”
Tensions remain high along the border, with Pakistan intensifying shelling across the Line of Control, resulting in 16 civilian deaths, including children. India has reiterated that further military provocations will be met with proportional force.
