Google Doodle celebrates 2024 Lok Sabha Elections with voting symbol

Google marked the start of India's Lok Sabha Elections 2024 with a doodle on April 19. The Google Doodle Lok Sabha Elections 2024 features the iconic symbol of voting - the index finger. This election is crucial, with the BJP-led NDA and the INDIA bloc in a fierce competition.

In the first phase, 17 states and four Union Territories are holding elections across 102 constituencies. Over 16.63 crore voters are eligible to vote, with around 8.23 crore women, 8.4 crore men, and 11,371 third-gender electors. There are 1.87 lakh polling stations set up for voters.

The first phase includes key candidates like K Annamalai, Nitin Gadkari, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Jitin Prasada, Gaurav Gogoi, Tamilisai Soundararajan, Nakul Nath, Karti Chidambaram, Imran Masood, and Dayanidhi Maran.

Voting starts at 7:00 am and ends at 6:00 pm. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.

Today's voting covers states like Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, and parts of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Assam.

The election process spans several phases - Phase 2 - April 26, Phase 3 - May 7, Phase 4 - May 13, Phase 5 - May 20, Phase 6 - May 25, and Phase 7 - June 1. This election marks a significant moment for India as citizens exercise their democratic right to vote.
