Devotees flock to stalls in Vijayawada as colourful Ganesh idols in innovative designs spark high demand ahead of Vinayaka Chavithi 2025.

Vijayawada is buzzing with festive cheer as preparations for Vinayaka Chavithi get underway. A week ahead of the festival, streets in Ayodhyanagar, Singh Nagar, and other busy localities are lined with vibrant Ganesh idols, ranging from small one-foot figures to majestic 12-foot installations.
🌸 Rising Demand Ahead of Chaturthi
Local idol makers are witnessing a surge in sales this year compared to last. “We have received more bulk orders as well as higher retail demand. New design idols, especially those brought from Hyderabad, are in great demand,” said M. Devender, a Ganesh idol artisan from Vijayawada.
💰 Price Hike, But No Dip in Spirit
Despite idol prices rising by nearly 30%, organisers and families remain undeterred. “The collections are impressive this year. Prices have gone up, but the quality and designs are worth it,” said Bonu Rambabu, a festival organiser from Mylavaram in NTR district.
🎨 Innovative Designs Draw Crowds
Among the most sought-after models this year are Ayodhya Mandir-themed Ganeshas, which have quickly become crowd favourites. Stalls across Vijayawada are witnessing heavy footfall as families and cultural groups prepare for grand celebrations across Krishna and NTR districts.
📌 The Bigger Picture
Vinayaka Chavithi, one of Andhra Pradesh’s most important festivals, is set to be celebrated on a larger scale this year with new designs, higher sales, and increased community participation.
