In a devastating incident, at least 17 people lost their lives after a massive fire broke out early Sunday morning at a commercial building in Gulzar House, located near Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar.

The fire, which erupted around 6:30 AM, prompted an immediate response from the Fire Department. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, where several victims were found unconscious and were quickly transported to nearby hospitals.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the incident and instructed senior officials to undertake all necessary rescue and relief operations. An official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the injured were promptly shifted to hospitals and assured that they would receive proper medical care.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy visited the site and addressed the media, stating, “Police have informed that eight people are confirmed dead, including some children, but the final toll will be confirmed by the authorities.”

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also responded to the tragedy. In a post on social media platform X, the PMO stated:

“Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Hyderabad, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.”

An ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, and ₹50,000 will be given to those injured.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire, and rescue operations are ongoing to ensure no one remains trapped in the debris.
