Filmmaker Uttam Maheshwari has apologized for announcing his film Operation Sindoor, following widespread backlash over its timing amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The movie, which was set to depict India’s precision strikes on terrorist centers in Pakistan and PoK, featured a poster that included a woman soldier with aircraft and bombs in the backdrop of a war.

After facing intense criticism on social media, Maheshwari deleted the film's poster and issued a public apology. He explained that his intention was never to provoke or hurt anyone's sentiments but to honor the courage of the Indian armed forces. In his statement, Maheshwari emphasized that the project was inspired by deep respect for India and its leadership and was meant to showcase the bravery of the country’s soldiers. He stated, "I was moved by the courage, sacrifice, and strength of our armed forces and leadership, and simply wanted to bring this powerful story to light."

The filmmaker acknowledged that the timing of the film announcement might have caused discomfort for some and expressed regret for any pain caused. He also highlighted that the film was more than just a project—it was meant to represent a powerful national sentiment and India's global image. "Our love and prayers will always be with the families of the martyrs, as well as the brave soldiers who are guarding our borders," Maheshwari wrote, concluding with "Jai Hind! Jai Bharat."

The backlash was further intensified after the film’s poster erroneously mentioned 'Bhagnani', leading Puja Films, owned by Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, to clarify their non-involvement with the project. In a statement, the production company emphasized that neither Vashu Bhagnani nor Jackky Bhagnani had any association with Operation Sindoor and expressed their solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. "We stand with our soldiers during this sensitive time and are praying for the safety of each and every one of them," Puja Films stated, concluding with "Jai Hind!"

Maheshwari's apology came in the wake of public outcry over what many felt was an inappropriate attempt to capitalize on a sensitive issue involving national security.
