📢 Key Announcement
Starting 15 August 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will roll out a FASTag Annual Pass for private cars, jeeps, and vans. Priced at ₹3,000, the pass allows free passage for 200 trips (or one year, whichever comes first) at designated National Highway (NH) and National Motorway (NE) toll plazas.
The move aims to cut toll booth congestion, reduce wait times, and provide hassle-free travel for millions of private vehicle owners.
💡 How the FASTag Annual Pass Works
♦ Activation Fee: ₹3,000
♦ Validity:
♦ 1 year from activation date OR
♦ 200 trips (transactions), whichever comes first
♦ Recharge: Once validity expires, recharge like a regular FASTag to renew Annual Pass privileges
♦ Coverage:
♦ NH & NE fee plazas (free passage within limits)
♦ Works as normal FASTag on State Highways, municipal tolls, and parking — regular charges apply
📍 Fee Plaza Coverage
♦ Included: National Highways (NH) & National Motorways (NE)
♦ Excluded: State highways (SH), city roads, parking zones, and tolls under state/local control
🚙 Vehicle Eligibility
✅ Allowed: Private non-commercial cars, jeeps, vans (as per VAHAN database)
❌ Not Allowed: Commercial vehicles — misuse leads to immediate deactivation
⚖ Is It Mandatory?
No — the FASTag Annual Pass is optional.
♦ With Pass: Enjoy 200 free trips/year on NH & NE tolls
♦ Without Pass: Continue paying per trip via regular FASTag
🔍 How to Apply (Expected Process)
MoRTH has not yet issued a separate portal link, but based on the existing FASTag system, the process will likely be:
1. Visit your FASTag issuing bank or provider’s portal/app
2. Log in with registered vehicle details
3. Select Annual Pass activation
4. Pay ₹3,000 online
5. Receive confirmation — benefits start from activation date
