Saturday witnessed chaos at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata as football icon Lionel Messi dazzled his presence for a mere 10 minutes before leaving the venue. This act of Messi's basically giving the reason for the gathering of thousands of fans to express their discontent against the GOAT tour event and his sudden exit.

The 50,000 crowd which included lot of spectators having tickets worth ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, expressed anger and dissatisfaction through booing the organisers. The ground was reported to be littered with bottles and the barricades near the lower tier of the stadium were all ruined due to the crowd's frustration.

This was Messi's second time in India after his 2011 visit to Kolkata for an international friendly against Venezuela. The crowd of fans had high hopes, which made his sudden leaving only more disappointing for the ones who had been waiting for hours just to catch a glimpse of the Argentine superstar.

Officially the India tour of Messi started from Kolkata and was expected to proceed to Hyderabad later the same day. The following dayhe was going to be in Mumbai and then finish in New Delhi on Monday where he would be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence.

Initially, Messi communicated through Instagram that he was "really excited" to come to the "wonderful country" and he was going to India. Moreover, he also mentioned that he was willing to participate in concerts, youth football clinics, paddle cup, and the launching of charity projects at the major stadiums in Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

The entire event has highlighted the matters of bad event management and lack of crowd control, with the fans and net users demanding a justification as to why the soccer player's presence was limited to such a short period of time only.
