E-Aadhaar App to Launch Soon: No More Photocopies, QR Code Verification to Simplify Aadhaar Updates Nationwide
UIDAI to launch e-Aadhaar app with QR code verification by end of 2025—no more photocopies needed for ID updates, biometric visits only when required.
E-Aadhaar app to launch soon with QR code identity verification, replacing photocopies and streamlining Aadhaar updates across India.

With the upcoming rollout of a new e-Aadhaar system enabled by QR codes, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) would do away with the necessity of carrying or submitting physical photocopies of Aadhaar for identity verification. By the end of 2025, this digital project is anticipated to be implemented throughout India.
What the Upcoming E-Adhaar App Will Provide
Users won't need to visit Aadhaar facilities to update the most of their personal information thanks to the new E-Aadhaar app, with the exception of biometric verification, which involves iris and fingerprint scans. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar claims that around 2,000 of the organization's one lakh devices have already been modified to accommodate the new system.
- "This will improve data privacy, decrease paperwork, expedite the Aadhaar update process, and prevent identity fraud," Kumar said in a statement.
- Important Elements of the New Aadhaar Update System Verification using QR Code: Digital identity verification allows citizens to do away with paper photocopies.
- Update your name, address, and other important information at home using the app.
- Biometric Visits Only: As of November 2025, on-site visits will only be necessary for biometric modifications.
- Secure Data Access: From government databases like these, UIDAI will retrieve validated data.

Biometric Registration for Kids
Additionally, UIDAI is concentrating on biometric updates for kids aged 5–7 and again between 15–17. School boards like the CBSE are working together to organise enrolment drives in educational establishments.
Fight Off False Documents
In industries like real estate and hotels, the updated system seeks to reduce the number of fraudulent documents. For safe identity confirmation, hotels and sub-registrar offices are now testing QR code verification.
Crucially, the app will have robust privacy protections in place, and user consent will be at the heart of all data-sharing activities.
