Andhra Pradesh 20-Point Implementation Committee Chairman and senior BJP leader Lanka Dinakar on Wednesday justified the renaming of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment:Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) as Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (VB G RAM G).

He said as far as MGNREGA is concerned structural changes are very much required after all the 26 districts in the State were reviewed under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Reforms for the restructuring of the guaranteed employment for the rural workers is a welcome decision. Primarily “ Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB—G RAM G) Bill, 2025” aims at more transparent object oriented initiation for providing rural employment guarantee and quality asset creation without misusing the funds.

When there is a number of days raised to 125 days per rural household in every financial year from existing 100 days and under MGNREGA, if a person seeking work is not provided employment within 15 days, the State Government must pay them an unemployment allowance and the bill retains this provision.

Dinakar pointed out that there is an important provision during the agricultural season when 60 days are allowed to stop the programme to avoid the practical constraints for the farmers in the season for the labour availability. Hence, labour will get more working days in a year like 125 days under the government programme and 60 days during the agricultural season.

He said more funds will be available for rural development in the 60:40 ratio of the expenditure by the Central and State Governments. This may give more. rural employment and quality of asset creation for the Viksit Bharat as per the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The bill provides for using the technology to fix the malicious transactions like biometric authentication for transactions, geospatial technology for planning and monitoring, mobile application-based dashboards for real-time tracking and weekly public disclosure systems. This eliminates the wrong and bogus payments without work and unwanted unnecessary works which have no impact in the asset creation," he stated.
