Cyclone Montha LIVE Tracker: The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has now been classified as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with winds in the range of 90–100 kmph gusting up to 110 kmph and is moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast with a potential landfall sometime late evening or night.
Red Alerts have been issued for several districts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana by IMD for extremely heavy rainfall, rough seas, and strong winds.

At 5:30 A. M. of October 28, Cyclone Montha was centred over the Bay of Bengal near 14.7°N latitude and 83.1°E longitude, moving north-northwestwards at 15 kmph.

190 km S-SE of Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh
270 km S-SE of Kakinada
340 km S-SW of Visakhapatnam
550 km S-SW of Gopalpur, Odisha
It is being forecasted near Kakinada landfall somewhere between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, roughly 200 kilometers from Malkangiri in Odisha.
Severe Weather Impact Expected
Beneath a high-pressure area, the IMD forecasts very heavy rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh; south Odisha and parts of Telangana. The effects shall continue to Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, which have all been issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Andhra Pradesh: Intense rains and winds are predicted for Nellore, Tirupati, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, Kakinada, and Visakhapatnam districts.
Odisha: Districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Kalahandi are at most risk.
Telangana: Coastal regions shall be getting moderate to intense rains along with gusty winds.

12:47 PM: Chhattisgarh on Alert
The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning about a sudden, stormy squall with possible wind gusts touching the 70 kmph mark over areas of Chhattisgarh during the day of the 28th and around 60 kmph on the 29th.

Very rough and high sea conditions are prevailing along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, which were making maritime activities extremely hazardous.

It has been in the monsoon regime over the last 36 hours, with precipitation recorded at an average of 5 cm for the past 24 hours. Collector Himanshu Shukla stated that heavy rainfall could go on for another 12–14 hours. Up to now, there have been no reports of breaches or overflows.
