The party approved the candidature of two former members of Parliament, one of whom was a former Union minister, in addition to a former MLA and a first-time candidate, for the Telangana Parliament elections. Suresh Kumar Shetkar of Zaheerabad, Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy of Mahabubnagar, Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy of Nalgonda, and Balram Naik Porika of Mahabubabad (ST reserved) were among those who received the nod.

In the second term of the Manmohan Singh administration, Mr. Naik assumed the position of Union minister. Concurrently, Mr. Shetkar was the Member of Parliament for Zaheerabad from 2009 to 2014. Prior to his current position as secretary of the AICC (organization), Mr. Vamshichand Reddy represented the Kalwakurthy constituency as an MLA. A first-timer is Mr. Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy, the son of senior Congress leader Kunduru Jana Reddy. Since Mr. Jana Reddy had requested the ticket for either himself or his son, his presence was anticipated. Raghuveer Reddy's brother, Jayaveer Reddy, is an MLA for the constituency of Nagarjuna Sagar.
