The Indian military on Wednesday carried out a carefully orchestrated retaliatory attack, dubbed 'Operation Sindoor', which destroyed nine terrorist camps hidden in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

It took only 25-minute to conduct the operation (between 1.05 am and 1.30 am), today, aiming at critical infrastructure of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), also Hizbul Mujahideen.

Details of the operation were revealed during a press conference conducted in the national capital this afternoon, where foreign secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh spoke to the nation.

Foreign secretary stated that the 'barbaric' Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people was intended to "undermine normalcy returning to Kashmir," for which a strong response was necessary.

Vikram Misri stated that Indian intelligence units had been tracking terrorist operations and expressed concerns about further terrorist attacks in India.

"Our intelligence suggested that more attacks on India are imminent. Therefore, compulsion, to deter and prevent and thus earlier this morning, India exercised its right to retaliate to deter such more cross-border terrorism. They were aimed at destroying terrorists' infrastructure," he stated.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi also gave a detailed list of the target locations, displaying photographic proof of their destruction.

Speaking about the strategic justification for 'Operation Sindoor', Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that "nine terror camps were targeted and destroyed" in a clear retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. She also pointed out the extensive terror infrastructure that Pakistan has kept up for three decades, including 21 recruitment and launch pad centers.

The military used a range of weaponry, such as SCALP cruise missiles, HAMMER precision-guided bombs, and high-tech loitering weapons.
