CCTV footage captured the chaotic scene at a Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam center on Friday, where candidates disrupted the exam over rumors of a paper leak. The footage shows a large group tearing question papers in the storage area and snatching them from those taking the test.

The incident began when some candidates, frustrated by a 40 to 45-minute delay, rushed into a room where exam officials were explaining the situation. Despite assurances that extra time would be granted to compensate for the delay, the candidates' anger escalated.

According to a police complaint filed by the authorities, the officials attempted to calm the candidates, explaining that the delay would be compensated. However, the crowd pushed aside the officials and raided the boxes containing the question papers.

The CCTV footage shows some individuals tearing the question papers while others ran outside, distributing them to bystanders. The exam authorities reported that the commotion started after the sealed question papers were distributed in various rooms. The delay in distribution caused unrest among the candidates.

The police complaint details how some candidates demanded to know why the sealed box was not opened in their room. This led to students from other rooms joining the chaos, snatching, and tearing booklets and attendance sheets. Rumors that the exam had been canceled spread quickly, prompting more candidates to gather outside the center.

One candidate reportedly looted a packet of question papers from the storage trunk, broke the gate, and ran outside waving the papers. The crowd damaged attendance sheets and other forms as they moved through the building.

Despite the chaos, the magistrate and police present at the venue managed to control the situation, and the examination continued. In total, 5,674 candidates completed the exam under a controlled environment.

Officials noted that the sheer number of candidates made it difficult to start the exam on time, with all five floors of the center filled to capacity. The situation was further aggravated by some candidates objecting to the sealed box not being opened in their room, disrupting the distribution of question papers.
