The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a schedule for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. There will be two phases of polling — November 6 and November 11, while the results will be declared on November 14.
🗳️ Election Schedule with Two Phases Announced
The poll authority headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi announced the poll dates during a press conference on Monday.
“Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases — the first on November 6 and the second on November 11. Counting of votes will be conducted on November 14,” said CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
The state has a total of 243 assembly constituencies and 7.43 crore registered voters, including around 14 lakh first-time voters and 14,000 citizens aged above 100 years.
⚙️ EC Promises Transparent and Efficient Elections
The Election Commission assured voters that the polls will be conducted fairly, transparently, and securely.
“The final voter list after summary revision has been shared with all political parties. Once nominations close, the final list will be released,” Gyanesh Kumar added.
The CEC also revealed that new voter cards will be issued to all newly registered electors and to those who updated their details. With new standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place, voter cards will now be provided within 15 days, compared to longer wait times earlier.
💻 100% Webcasting, Postal Ballot Rules & Voter Facilities
To enhance transparency, the poll body announced that webcasting will be implemented at all polling booths — a significant jump from the previous 50% coverage.
Additionally, it is now mandatory to complete counting of postal ballots before the final two rounds of vote counting.
Other key updates include:
- Coloured candidate photos on EVMs (instead of black-and-white) for easier identification.
- Increased font size on EVMs for better readability.
- An average of 818 voters per polling station across the state.
- Mobile phone deposit counters at polling booths.
- Prominently displayed booth serial and part numbers to streamline verification.
