The Telangana government has expedited the work on the ambitious Bharat Future City, which is a next-generation urban project located about 40 kilometers from Hyderabad. The whopping 30,000 acres area between Mirkhanpet and Mucharla villages in Kandukuru mandal is where the project will be carried out. This project is expected to revolutionize the concept of sustainable urban development in India.

The Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to finish the gigantic project in 30 months. The Chief Minister visited the Future City Development Corporation and monitored the progress recently and given the constructions activities a clear go-ahead with his instructions to speed up the work.

Initially planned as a limited development housing a Skills University, AI City, and Sports City, the scope of Bharat Future City has now been significantly expanded. The innovative master plan sees the city as a worldwide business center that could lure almost 70% of the Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

The city will be built in an environmentally friendly way, comprising 11-townships that will be constructed with the least possible environmental damage. The major areas include an AI City of 300 acres, a Health City of 200 acres, a Life Sciences Hub of 3,000 acres and an Education Hub of 500 acres.

Bharat Future City has one of the most impressive features with the application of a District Cooling System (DCS) — an innovative technology that keeps the buildings cool without using the normal air conditioning units. Rather than that, the water chilled to around 5°C will be passed through underground pipes to control the temperature.

This system is being implemented for the first time in Telangana, and it is inspired by GIFT City in Gujarat, where the electricity consumption is expected to cut nearly 30% with this technology while the city temperatures would be cooled down. The professionals are of the opinion that this technology would be very much instrumental in the city's making capable of saving on energy and resilient to climate.

With the launch of a Skills University in December 2024 as a part of the Education City, the construction of Young India Integrated Gurukul School has already started. The rest of the townships are expected to be under development shortly which will mark the next stage of the project.

When the project is completed, Bharat Future City will be considered a smart city with all the benefits of state-of-the-art technology, sustainability, and global business infrastructure integrated within a single city ecosystem.
