The city is once again experiencing strong monsoon showers, and because of the high rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow advisory for August 5. Travel plans and daily life throughout the IT hub have been impacted by the rainstorm, which has caused extensive traffic congestion, saturated roadways, and aircraft delays.

Passenger Advisories Are Issued by Airlines Despite Disturbances

Passengers are now receiving warnings from airlines about possible delays and cancellations. SpiceJet informed travellers on social media site X (previously Twitter) of the following:

Bad weather (heavy rain) in Bengaluru (BLR) may affect all departures and arrivals and the flights that follow. Please use spicejet.com/#status to check the status of your flight.

IndiGo Airlines published a similar warning as well:

As it continues to pour, some important routes in Bengaluru are already being impacted. Travel times to the airport may increase as a result.

To avoid last-minute problems, travellers are urged to check their flight status frequently and depart well in advance due to the poor visibility and waterlogging on the approach roads to Kempegowda International Airport.

The Rainy Season Is Back in Bengaluru

Bump-to-bump traffic, flooded streets, and clogged stormwater drains returned to many key intersections and arterial highways on August 5 as the city was battered by rain. In places like Hebbal, Silk Board Junction, and Outer Ring Road, commuters reported major delays.

Bengaluru 7-Day Weather Forecast

Here’s what the IMD says the city can expect in the coming days:

  • August 5: Heavy rain and cloudy skies. Waterlogging and long commutes likely.
  • August 6: Regular monsoon showers with cloudy conditions. Slight relief but disruptions may continue.
  • August 7: Cloudy with moderate rainfall. Outdoor plans could be impacted.
  • August 8: Persistent rain throughout the day under overcast skies.
  • August 9: Typical monsoon day — steady rain and grey skies.
  • August 10: Scattered rain with possible breaks in between. Partly clearer skies expected.
  • August 11: Light to moderate rain with continued cloud cover and cooler temperatures.

What Commuters Should Do

  • Check traffic and flight updates before stepping out.
  • Leave early for the airport or important appointments.
  • Avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas during peak hours.
  • Use public transport where feasible to avoid long delays.

City authorities have been urged to step up drainage management and emergency response as rains are expected to continue through the week.
