On Friday, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar for a review of the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people in Pahalgam. The victims were mostly tourists. Dwivedi is scheduled to visit the Pahalgam site and review security arrangements.

The government had earlier held a meeting of all parties to inform its allies, and the opposition, about the measures taken in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of 26 people. Rahul Gandhi declared after the meeting that the opposition has given the government its full support to "take any action".

Leaders from all parties called for a decisive response against terror and terror camps. Opposition parties highlighted security failures present at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that all parties support India's united stance against Pahalgam terrorist attack.

All parties have said they support the government.

Pahalgam terror attack: Top developments

• India announced Wednesday a number of measures against Pakistan including the suspension the Indus Waters treaty. The Indian government stated that it would remain suspended until Pakistan ceases to support cross-border terrorism in a credible and irrevocable manner.

• India announced on Wednesday that it had also expelled Pakistan's three Military Attachés and ordered Islamabad, to reduce the staff at its New Delhi high commission from 55 to 30,

• Pakistani nationals are no longer allowed to travel to India on the SAARC visa waiver scheme (SVES). Pakistanis who have a SVES visa and are currently in India must leave India within 48 hours.

• India has decided to shut down the Integrated Check Post in Attari, with immediate effect.

• The United Nations urged India on Friday to exercise maximum restraint to prevent a further deterioration in the tense atmosphere following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
