As the two-day 30th edition of CII Partnership Summit got off to a glittering start here on Friday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Andhra Pradesh will roll out drone taxis and quantum computers built under the 'Make in India' Mission in two years.
Amid loud applause after the inauguration of the summit at the sprawling Andhra University Engineering College Grounds by Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan, he praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said with the support of the Centre, they will forge ahead to position AP as the leader in innovation, technology and real-time governance. He said 21st century belongs to Modi as he is recognised as a tall leader and statesman worldwide.
Hard-selling the investment opportunities in AP in clean energy, deeptech, data centers, Global Capability Centers, food processing, petrochemicals, pharma, aerospace, defence, logistics and other sectors he sought investments with hassle-free clearances as part of Speed of Doing Business.
Naidu declared that to boost Investors' confidence they will become the first State to open Escrow accounts with sovereign guarantee to give them incentives. He said they are confident of attracting USD500 investment in next three years to generate five million jobs.
He said AP is poised to get USD one trillion investment in next 10 years.
Responding to remarks made by Union Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal, he said AP Government is ready to allot a sea-facing site located atop a hill in Visakhapatnam for developing an internal exhibition-cum-convention centre.
A senior official told Bizz Buzz that the convention centre may be developed on the lines of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)'s facility located at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister said AP is able to attract investments to a tune of USD 20 billion providing employment opportunity to 20 lakh youth in the past 18 months and expressed hope that the government will be able to attract USD 500 billion in three years to provide employment opportunity to 50 lakh youth.
Naidu said the State Government has been giving priority to green energy and a target was set to produce 160 GW of green energy out of 500 GW target of India. He said priority is given for developing green energy in a big way as proposed data centre in Visakhapatnam itself need 6 gw of power.
The Chief Minister expressing happiness over participation of over 2500 trade delegates across the globe including 522 representing 72 countries, said that Visakhapatnam is a beautiful and safest city and going to emerge as destination for IT and investments.
Praising Vice President Radhakrishnan, the Chief Minister described him as a shining example of hard work and democratic values.
Earlier CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee welcomed the gathering. Vice-President Radhakrishnan, Governor Sayed Abdul Nazeer, Union Ministers Peeyush Goyal, K. Rammohan Naidu, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma, AP Ministers Nara Lokesh, Nadendla Manohar and TG Bharath addressed the session.
