VPA’s historic 80 MMT cargo milestone in record time

Visakhapatnam: Under strategic planning and implementation by its Chairperson Dr M Angamuthu, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) achieved a historic milestone by crossing 80 million metric tonnes (80,082,108 MT) of cargo handling in just 327 days.
This marks the fastest-ever achievement of 80 MMT in the illustrious 92-year history of the port. Dr. Angamuthu has been consistently motivating and steering the VPA team towards the ambitious financial year target of 90 MMT. With strong leadership and a clear strategic vision, he remains confident that the port will successfully accomplish this challenging milestone.
The present achievement significantly surpasses the previous records: 80.11 MMT achieved in 357 days on March 23, 2025 during FY 2024–2 and 80.02 MMT achieved in 362 days on March 27, 2024 during FY 2023–24.
This remarkable performance reflects VPA’s operational excellence, enhanced efficiency, strong stakeholder coordination, and sustained growth momentum in cargo handling.
