VPA opens Marine Park, lays stone for 100-ft high mast of National Flag

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairman Dr. M. Angamuthu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the 100 feet high mast National Flag and inaugurated the Marine Park at Convent Junction.

The projects cost Rs.2.7 crore showcasing VPA’s commitment in development and beautification of Visakhapatnam Port as well as the city.

As part of the venture, VPA in coordination with the Visakhapatnam city administration is undertaking various works such as developing roads, pavements, medians at major junctions, improving greenery, and arranging lighting strips to enhance the night-time ambience of the port area.

The Marine Park is adorned with illuminated marine-themed structures such as an Anchor, Starfish, Dolphins, and a Seashell, placed amidst beautifully landscaped surroundings along a curved pathway. The sculptures and pathways have been artistically illuminated, offering a dazzling and vibrant appearance at night.

On this occasion, the Chairperson also laid the foundation stone for a 30-metre (100 ft) high mast National Flag, to be installed in front of the Ambedkar

Statue Island at Convent Junction within a span of three months.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson said Visakhapatnam is one of the most beautiful cities in the country in all aspects and appreciated the city administration for its continuous support and stated that, as a tribute to the city, He said the port is committed to developing greenery and beautifying Port-connected junctions to enrich the overall ambience.

Among others, Durgesh Kumar Dubey, Deputy Chairperson, along with Heads of Departments, officers, and employees were present.
