The skyline in Visakhapatnam, the main industrial and financial hub of Andhra Pradesh with over two million population, is undergoing seachange with several towers under construction while many are proposing to take up taller buildings to meet the requirement of high-end lifestyle of the affluent classes and business firms.
"With land becoming scarce and population getting concentrated into the main areas of the city, the thrust is on constructing huge ventures. After some years, the city skyline will see a phenomenal change," Bayana Srinivasa Rao, CREDAI Andhra Pradesh President, told Bizz Buzz.
As of now the Lansum Oxygen Towers at Seethammadhara is the tallent with 35 floors. Recently, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority, at a review meeting held by its Chairman Pranav Gopal, Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan in the presence of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, green signal was given to construct six 50-floor residential complexes in Madhurawada in an area of four acres either on PPP mode or with a joint venture with a private firm. The towers will have three and four bhk flats along with 4 bhk duplex with all ultra modern facilities like club house, banquet halls, piped gas, solar power and 24/7 security redefining urban lifestyle.
The meeting also resolved to take up residential complexes for middle income groups with 2, 2.5 and 3 bhk flats in Mithilapuri, Marikivalasa and Veeragunta keeping in view the proposal to take up metro rail and make Bhogapuram International Airport in another one and half months.
Varun Hospitality has already launched work on construction of two 35-floor towers by demolishing the Hotel Taj Gateway near RK Beach. The government has already given clearance to construct an ionic foot overbridge (FOB) connecting the new venture and the Hotel Novotel. The building where Hotel Novotel is housed is also owned by Varun Hospitality.
Eastern Naval Command has commenced work on constructing 41-floor sailors' blocks at Nausenabagh. Iconica Capitol has taken up a 32-floor tower with a sky lounge at Yendada. Vaisakh Sunder Sky Lounge with 30 floors is coming up in Madhurawada area. CMR One by Karlan has plans for a 28-floor residential complex at Sripuram. In addition to this, MK One has plans for a 25-floor tower.
