Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam is all set to join the elite club of cities with World Trade Center (WTC) infrastructure with IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday performing the ground-breaking ceremony for WTC Visakhapatnam here on Thursday.
WTC at Yendada featuring 7.5 million sq. ft of space will offer ready-built infra for business networking, consulting, trade services, and market access support.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh set a target to the project proponent to make it operational within 24 months and said the government will monitor the work progress on a regular basis. He also promised to offer new opportunities if project is completed fast.
The Minister said Visakhapatnam will have excellent growth prospects as several big ticket projects like Google AI Data Center, TCS and Cognizant are getting grounded along with several IT parks. He hoped that WTC tower in Vizag will bring many global capability centers (GCCs), Fortune 500 companies and other players to Visakhapatnam.
Lokesh said he is confident that with many lining up to invest in the city, there will be a scope to create employment for five lakh people in IT, ITeS and allied fields.
He said experts from Singapore are being engaged to offer plans for developing Visakhapatnam Regional Economic Corridor.
IT and Electronics Principal Secretary Katananeni Bhaskar said WTC brand and world-class infrastructure to be provided in it will give a shot in arm for transforming Visakhapatnam into a mega economic, innovation and technology hub.
WTC Visakhapatnam Director Vamsi Krishna explained about the salient features of the WTC project. WTC Visakhapatnam Chairman Y Varaprasad Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Lokesh performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Advanced Software Innovation and AI Excellence Center of Sails Software at IT Hill No. 3.
The Minister inaugurated at IT Hill No. 2 iSpace Software Solutions. The company will set up R&D center focused on AI, automation-enabled BPO/KPO, and healthcare ITES services. Tech Tammina’s new facility at IT Hill No. 2 will focus on low-code and AI technologies.
Another new project by Phenom’s Global Development Center at IT Hill No. 2 will engage in AI research, advanced product development, and software engineering. The Minister also launched the Raheja IT Space and Luxury Residential Project, involving Rs 2,172 crore investment and 8,000 jobs.
