Visakha emerging economic powerhouse: GMR founder

Visakhapatnam: GMR Group Chairman GM Rao has said Visakhapatnam is emerging as an economic powerhouse due to the proactive policies of the NFA Government in the State.

Speaking at the annual meet of Andhra University Alumni Association coinciding with the centenary celebrations of the university, he said: “Visakhapatnam is emerging as a rising powerhouse, driven by visionary leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Hon’ble IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

With significant investments pouring in – Google’s $15 billion data center, Reliance and ta’s world class data center ecosystem, and GMR’s Bhogapuram International Airport – Vizag is poised to become India’s next economic and tech hub, positioning itself as “The Gateway of the East.” He said these developments not only transform the region but also create a fertile ground for Andhra University to evolve into a global institution, leveraging the city’s growth, innovation, and talent pool to become a hub for academic excellence and research.”
