Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice (retd) S. Abdul Nazeer on Monday said technology is redefining governance in Andhra Pradesh, making services faster, life easier, and administration smarter.
Addressing the first-ever State-level Republic Day celebrations here, he said every initiative is driven by a single goal: improving service delivery and bringing government closer to the people. “We are establishing the Amaravati Quantum Valley, with plans to install
India’s first quantum computer very shortly and train 200 specialists in next-generation computing. Around Sriharikota, the creation of Space City will nurture space-tech startups and manufacturing, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a frontier hub of innovation.”
The Governor said proactive policies and a strong focus on ease and speed of doing business have enhanced Brand Andhra Pradesh, making it an ideal investment destination. The government has unveiled several forward-looking policies to build a robust ecosystem and a conducive atmosphere for accelerated development and economic prosperity.
Beyond the capital, he said, the government is shaping the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER) into a $750–800 billion economic engine by 2047. The Visakhapatnam Metro (46.23 km, Rs11,498 crore) and the Vijayawada Metro (38.40 km, Rs10,118 crore) have been approved, while new Greenfield expressways such as Nagpur–Vijayawada and Kharagpur–Visakhapatnam–Amaravati are fast-tracking regional integration.
Rural connectivity is also being transformed. The Panchayat Raj Engineering Department has taken up 97 roads and 33 bridges worth Rs630 crore. Under PMGSY and RCPLWEA, 356 roads and 88 bridges worth Rs1,632 crore are linking remote tribal habitations. The AP Rural Road Strengthening Project is upgrading 4,007 km of roads across 157 constituencies through 1,299 works worth Rs2,123 crore.
Modern mobility is another focus area. APSRTC has introduced 1,489 new buses, including the Star-Liner sleeper series. Automated Testing Stations are being set up in 18 districts, along with new Driving Training Centres to improve road safety and skill development.
On the maritime and aviation fronts, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as the East Coast hub for trade with East and Southeast Asia. “We are developing Greenfield ports at Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Mulapeta and Kakinada Gateway, with a vision of one port every 50 km along the 1,053 km coastline. Aviation infrastructure is expanding beyond six airports, with Bhogapuram International Airport nearing completion by June 2026 and nine new airports planned across the State.
