POSH Act is a powerful tool, AP State women panel chief says

Vijayawada: CII Indian Women Network (IWN) Andhra Pradesh Chapter under its Policy Advocacy Pillar, in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission, organised a capacity building workshop for effective POSH implementation here at Prasad V Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technolog. The workshop aimed to strengthen compliance with the POSH Act, 2013 and create a critical resource pool of Internal and External Committee Members for effective implementation across workplaces.
In her address, Dr Rayapati Sailaja, Chairperson, AP State Women’s Commission, highlighted the State Government’s commitment to gender-equitable workplaces. She remarked, “The POSH Act is a powerful tool to ensure dignity and safety for women at work. Our collective responsibility is to make its implementation robust and meaningful.”
Dr. Sailaja further articulated the broader vision behind this initiative, stating, “This workshop marks the first step in a strategic collaboration between the State Women’s Commission and CII IWN. As Andhra Pradesh experiences rapid economic growth and rising workforce participation, ensuring safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive workplaces is both a social responsibility and a strategic enabler of sustainable development. Our intention is to set new benchmarks for POSH implementation, making Andhra Pradesh a leader in gender-inclusive workplaces.”
She reiterated the need for continuous engagement and awareness, saying, “Workshops like these are catalysts for change. Let us take this learning forward to every corner of Andhra Pradesh.”
Chairwoman, IWN Andhra Pradesh & Co-Founder, AVERA, welcomed the participants Chandini Chandana Akula emphasised the importance of creating safe and inclusive workplaces. She stated, Gender equity is not just a policy requirement; it is a cultural shift that organizations must embrace to thrive in today’s world.
