Rajamahendravaram: While praising the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 here on Friday, Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice (retd) S Abdul Nazeer said it envisions a transformative shift in higher education, promoting a learner-centric, flexible, and multidisciplinary ecosystem.

In his address at the Adikavi Nannaya University here, he said the vision is being realised through a series of structural reforms and digital innovations. Under the NEP, India is harnessing the power of digital innovation to expand access, enhance quality, and

modernise higher education. A range of technology-driven initiatives—from online learning platforms to virtual labs and AI-powered tools—are transforming how students learn, upskill, and connect with real-world opportunities across the country.

He said "NEP 2020 envisions a knowledge-driven higher education system that places research, innovation, and technology at its core. It aims to create a vibrant ecosystem that empowers institutions to contribute meaningfully to national and global development.

The policy aims to achieve 50 per cent Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education by 2035, establish Multidisciplinary Education & Research Universities and National Research Foundation, launch Academic Bank of Credits, National Credit Framework and options for Multiple Entry and Exit for flexible and lifelong learning, break disciplinary silos and integrate Indian Knowledge Systems."

He said "I am happy to learn that our university is fully geared up to align with the NEP 2020 by offering multidisciplinary education. Amrit Kaal is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision for a developed India by 2047, for a ‘New India’, a new dawn for the country which will bring with it the chance to fulfill the nation’s aspirations. Viksit Bharat @2047 represents India’s aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047, marking the centenary of our independence."

Among others, Prof Mahendra P Lama, guest speaker, Adikavi Nannaya University Vice-Chancellor Prof S Prasannna Sree, Founder and Chancellor, Founder and Chairman, KIMS, Amalapuram. K VV Satyanarayana Raju, and others spoke.
