Andhra Pradesh has set ambitious targets to manufacture two gigawatts of electrolyzers by 2027 and 5 gigawatts by 2029. By 2029, AP aims to produce 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
After releasing the Green Hydrogen Valley-Amaravati Declaration here on Monday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday elaborated on how the government is planning to develop Amaravati. The declaration was finalised based on feedback received at the Green Hydrogen Summit organised at Vijayawada recently.
The government said R&D efforts are underway to bring down the cost of hydrogen gas from Rs.460 to Rs.160 per kilogram. Infrastructure will be established to support the distribution of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2029. The declaration envisions developing this initiative as a dedicated Green Energy Corridor.
An investment of Rs.500 crore has been earmarked for innovation and research in the sector. The declaration also includes a commitment to support 50 startups engaged in green hydrogen development.
The declaration was released in the presence of Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and NREDCAP Managing Director Kamalakar Babu. The declaration outlines a strategic action plan to transform Andhra Pradesh into a Green Hydrogen Valley by the year 2030.
The two-day summit drew participation from over 600 delegates, including industry experts and stakeholders. CEOs, COOs, and Managing Directors from various green hydrogen companies took part in the summit, which was organized across seven sessions. Drawing on the key discussions held during the summit, the State Government announced the Green Hydrogen Declaration, which aims to establish clear policies for clean energy production and green hydrogen manufacturing.
It seeks to create conducive conditions for the growth of green hydrogen production within the State. A core objective of the declaration is to develop the largest green hydrogen ecosystem in the country, right in AP.
