Kadapa solar park gets 465 acres on lease from AP govt

Amaravati: As part of its focus on producing more renewable energy, Kadapa Ultra Mega Solar Park received a shot in the arm with the State Government issuing orders for alienation of 465 acres and 54 cents in Ponnampalli village Mylavaram mandal of YSR Kadapa district for establishment of 1,000 MW solar project.
The park is proposed to come up in an area of nearly 6,000 acres with an estimated cost of Rs4,000 crore to Rs5,000 crore. A 250 MW project developed by SolairePro Urja Pvt. Ltd forms part of the park.
The Revenue Department vide GO No 205 issued on March 31, 2026 stated that the land is alienated in favour of Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Private LImited (APSPCL), Guntur for setting up of the solar power project on a lease basis for a period of 33 years on payment of 10 per cent of lease rent @ Rs25,000/- per acres as on 2016, as fixed by the District Collector, YSR Kadapa, enhanced every block of five years by increasing up to 10 per cent as fixed by the competent authority on the lease rental of the previous block. Special Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad said that the order was issued after the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration & Special Chief Secretary, AP had stated that the proposal was placed before the Andhra Pradesh Land Management Authority (APLMA) in the meeting held on February 16 and the APLMA resolved and recommended for alienation of the government land to an extent of Ac466.54 cts. As per the government guidelines, certain conditions have been made as part of the lease.
As per the Clean Energy Policy of the State Government, the solar park is part and parcel of achieving 5,000 MW of solar power in AP in a time-bound manner.
The Kadapa project will have dedicated sub-stations. The solar park is rated as one of the largest in India reiterating the AP Government's commitment to power India's sustainable future. The government is encouraging massive rooftop solar adoption by 10 lakh households, a chain of solar parks and agriculture pumpset solarisation through PM-KUSUM. Subsidies are being given to farm solarisation/rooftop solar units and net metering for consumers self-reliance.
