Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) on Tuesday inaugurated a four-day residential scientific social responsibility program, LCS-SFP (Local College and School Students’ Fellowship Program). As part of the initiative, the institute provides hands-on instrument training for 40 students from government aided schools/colleges, ensuring equal gender representation, to inspire the college and school students for a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and for improvement of overall educational ecosystem of the local academic community.

Prof. Randhi Ramunaidu, programme coordinator thanked the District Collectors of Anakapalle, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram for helping in the selection process. Forty two students were nominated by the DEO’s of all the districts.

Prof. Ramunaidu emphasised the importance of higher education promotion in government schools of rural areas and stated that such programmes will surely motivate young minds to explore better career options.

Prof. Shalivahan, Director, IIPE mentioned that it is in line with the Central Government'sv Jigyasa program.
