Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Visakhapatnam Research Centre organised a scientific seminar in Hindi on “Ocean Health and Sustainable Development: Challenges and Solutions.”
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. G.V.M.Gupta, Scientist-G, NCCR and former Director, CMLRE by watering a plant. In his inaugural address he stressed upon the importance of sustainable ocean development, the need for understanding and studying the resources
He said "sustainable exploitation of resources of our country in our EEZ and international waters assumes utmost significance."
In his presidential address, Dr.B. Madhusudana Rao, Scientist-in-charge ICAR-CIFT emphasised the role of oceans in human health and blue economy and stressed the need to protect oceans for a better future.
Dr.U.Sreedhar, Principal-Scientist, ICAR-CIFT, highlighted the importance of organising a scientific seminar in Hindi.
He introduced the topic, outlined the challenges and hoped that the deliberations yield tangible solutions. A total of 13 power point presentations in Hindi were made by several institutes working in the area of oceans and fisheries namely CSIR-NIO, ICAR-CMFRI, NCCR, State Department of Fisheries, EIA, MPEDA, FSI, NIFPHATT, CIFNET, Andhra University (MLR & Zoology Departments), GITAM deemed to be university and ICAR-CIFT.
The deliberations were followed by poster presentations by college students representing St.Joseph College for Women, Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Andhra University-MLR Department, St.Anns college for Women, Dr. Lankapalli Bullaya college, in Hindi on the topic.
