HSL Conducts Training To Upskill Contract Workers

Visakhapatnam: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) Chairman and Managing Director Cmde Hemant Khatri, has said that contractor workmen are the backbone of shipyard’s operations, and by empowering them with the right skills, they are building a stronger, more efficient, and more effective workforce to contribute to the Nation’s maritime might. He said they introduced a pioneering initiative to reskill and upskill its contract workmen, aligning with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission. He was speaking at a two-day Quality Improvement and Compliance Knowledge (QUICK) training programme, which concluded on Thursday. The programme was aimed at benefiting about 2,000 contract workmen, enhancing their capabilities in shipbuilding technology. HSL, by investing in its silent workforce, is improving shipbuilding quality and ensuring professional growth.
The programme was inaugurated by Capt Venkateswarlu, Director (Shipbuilding), who explained the objective of the programme and encouraged participants to develop quality in workmanship across all streams of shipbuilding. He said training is being conducted in bilingual language by in-house experts for the benefit of the workmen.
