HSL Completes Refit Of Coast Guard Ship

Visakhapatnam: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a premier shipbuilding yard has completed the refit of Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Vajra on time.
The yard announced the completion of the work after successfully proving all machinery during its first sea trials, describing it as a significant milestone. The refit involved a 35% growth in work scope without any time overrun. A key highlight of this refit was the successful completion of the entire underwater work package in just 32 days, significantly ahead of the scheduled dry dock period of 45 days. One of the most challenging tasks during the refit was the repair of the port fin stabiliser, which involved the complex renewal of
the inflatable seal in situ through an innovative method. Additionally, repairs on both stabiliser control systems were executed efficiently. The refit process also encountered and overcame multiple challenges, including the renewal of shaft line bearings, gearbox routines, and stabiliser control systems, as well as the import of critical spares from Germany.
"This achievement underscores HSL's commitment to operational excellence, timely delivery, and continuous innovation in its operations," the company stated.
