Five cities in AP to get Swachh Survekshan awards

A high-level team from Andhra Pradesh led by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana will receive Swachh Survekshan awards being given to five municipal corporations in the State from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on July 17.

Visakhapatnam has been selected for the coveted special category ministerial award at the national level while Rajamahendravaram will be getting ministerial award at the State level. While Vijayawada, Guntur and Tirupati have been selected under the Swachh Super League Cities at the national level, Vijayawada has been given the recognition under the 10 lakh population category. Guntur has been given the award under three to 10 lakh and Tirupati under 50,000 to three lakh category.

Meanwhile, in a posting on X, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated all those responsible for enabling five cities to get Swachh Survekshan awards at national and State level. He said: "Congratulations to the Municipal Department, Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, officers, sanitation workers, and citizens for AP's shining performance in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25. Vijayawada, Guntur, and Tirupati have joined the prestigious Super Swachh League. While Visakhapatnam (GVMC) has won the Ministerial Award (Special Category), Rajahmundry has received the Ministerial Award (State Level). These awards further highlight the impact of the Swachh Andhra Swarna Andhra Mission, strengthened by the collective efforts of our people!."

AP Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram expressed satisfaction over conferment of the awards to five cities from Andhra Pradesh due to good ranking in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and waste management and disposal parameters.
