Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridor Authority has accorded approval to declare Orvakal Node in Kurnool district under Hyderabad Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC) as an industrial node under the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridor Development Act, 2017.

The corporation vide GO Ms. No. 121 issued on July 8 accorded approval of Final Master Plan of Orvakal Node under HBIC with an extent of 9,718.84 acres and instructed the Industries & Commerce Department, Government of AP to take further action.

Industries Secretary N. Yuvaraj said the government declared Orvakal Node under HBIC, as industrial node, in exercise of the powers conferred under by Section 3(2) of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridor Development Act, 2017. The government also decided to publish the Final Master Plan of Orvakal Node under HBIC with an extent of 9,718.84 acres. Accordingly, clearance has been accorded for issuing notification in the

extraordinary issue of Andhra Pradesh Gazette.

As per the land use pattern, 52% of land earmarked will be allotted to industries. In the first phase, 1423.73 acres will be allotted. The remaining land will be used for transportation, residential, commercial public and semi-public and public utilities. The node is expected to generate employment for 45,000 once development of all three phase is completed.

After full-fledged operation of airport, Kurnool is slowly emerging as an investment destination, said Industries Minister B.G. Bharath. Reliance recently signed an agreement with the government to invest Rs.1622 crore in the area. The government has also earmarked 300 acres to set up a drone city.

Though Kurnool is known for mining granites and quarrying, the focus now is being laid on bringing more investments to food processing sector, cement, industrial equipment and spare parts machinery. The area has rich deposits of iron ore, dolomite, quartz, stealite and limestone.

Bharath said there are efforts to make Kurnool a horticulture and spice production hub.
