DP World, PGTI to conduct Andhra Open in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: As part of its efforts to promote golf tourism, DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India, announced the inaugural edition of Andhra Open at East Point Golf Club (EPGC) here from April 7 to 10 with a total prize money of Rs1 crore.
The Andhra Open 2026 is supported by host venue East Point Golf recently completed the construciton of a eight-floor Club House including two-floor parking, a spa and fitness centre with five star facilities, 14 rooms including two suites and two infinity swiming pools with Olympic standards.
PGTI thanked its umbrella partner DP World and its tour partners for its support.of host venue EPGC and even partner Andhra Pradesh Golf Association (APGA). Leading Indian professionals participating in the event include DP World PGTI Order of Merit leader Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, winner of EPGC in 2024) Angad Cheema, Honey Baisoya and Ajeetesh Sandhu.
The leading foreign player at the event will be Sri Lankan N Thangaraja (winner of EPGC in 2023). There will be 18 foreign players from nine countries at the Andhra Open. The local challenge will be led by Visakhapatnam-based professionals S. Muthu and Mohammed Rahman.
EPGC honorary secretary MSN Raju said "East Point Golf Club was established in 1884. In 1964 it shifted to the present location. After getting 18 acres in 2018 from the government, a championship course was developed by 2023. It was awarded the best renovated golf course of India in 2022."
APGA also established a base at EPGC and started promoting golfing activities in Andhra Pradesh including DP World PGTI's Andhra Open 2026. He said this is the first time they are hosting the PGTI.
Speaking on the occasion, PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl praised the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to encourage tourism through initiatives like encouraging golfing events.
