Defence Minister hands over Mini Ratna certification to HSL

With Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presenting the certification on Mini Ratna status, November 10 turned into a red letter day for Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL).
Earlier, the Raksha Mantri inaugurated the Defence PSU Bhavan at the World Trade Centre, New Delhi, marking a major step towards fostering synergy, collaboration and innovation among India’s Defence Public Sector
Undertakings.
Following the inauguration and the Annual Performance Review of the 16 DPSUs, the Mini Ratna Status certificate was formally handed over to HSL. The honour was received by HSL’s C&MD Cmde Girideep Singh.
Declaring 2025 as the “Year of Reforms”, the Raksha Mantri highlighted India’s focus on R&D, indigenisation and defence exports under the vision of #AatmanirbharBharat. Key initiatives such as the HAL R&;D Manual and SWAYAM–Sustainable & Green Defence and Manufacturing were also launched during the event.
HSL remains committed to strengthening India’s maritime and defence manufacturing capabilities through innovation, technology absorption, and self-reliant shipbuilding, the company stated in a release.
