Bus Plunges into Gorge: Nine Killed, 15 injured
In a tragic accident on Friday morning, a private bus lost control and plunged into a gorge in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to more than 15 others.

CHINTOOR: In a tragic accident on Friday morning, a private bus lost control and plunged into a gorge in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to more than 15 others.
The incident occurred at Rajugarimetta on the Chintoor-Maredumilli ghat road. At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying two drivers and 35 passengers. The group of pilgrims was reportedly on its way to Annavaram after completing their darshan at Bhadrachalam. All the passengers were identified as residents of the Chittoor district.
Five of the critically injured were immediately shifted to the Bhadrachalam hospital. The remaining injured are currently receiving treatment at the Chintoor hospital, according to officials.
Rescue operations are currently underway at the site, involving police, fire, and medical personnel.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and Ministers Nara Lokesh and Vangalapudi Anitha expressed profound shock over the tragedy, calling the death of the pilgrims "painful."
The Chief Minister has directed top officials to immediately rush to the accident site and oversee the rescue and relief operations. He stressed the need for all departments to coordinate and ensure the best possible medical care for the victims. Minister Lokesh assured the public that the government would stand by the bereaved families. Home Minister Anitha immediately rushed to the accident site to assess the situation.
