Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Vijayawada branch office, organised a two-day capsule course training programme for quality control (QC) personnel of IS 14543:2024 packaged drinking water here.
The programme was specially designed for QC personnel from BIS-licensed firms, aimed at enhancing their understanding and implementation of the revised standard.
The event was inaugurated by Praveen Khanna, Scientist-G & Deputy Director General of BIS Southern Region. In his opening remarks, he underscored the pivotal role of such training initiatives in elevating product quality and operational efficiency through rigorous adherence to standards.
He also shared BIS's ambitious commitment to organise nearly 420 capsule training programmes across India during 2025-26-a testament to its enduring dedication to standardization and quality enhancement.
Key sessions were led by Durgum Vivek Vardhan Reddy, Scientist-C & Deputy Director of BIS, Vijayawada, who provided an in-depth overview of Indian standard IS 14543:2024 packaged drinking water. Through engaging discussions and interactive dialogue, he addressed participants' queries and shared valuable insights into compliance and practical implementation. Attendees were also encouraged to contribute constructive feedback to further enrich the standard's applicability and effectiveness.
The programme convened over 20 quality-in-charge professionals from various BIS-certified firms. It served as an enriching forum for dialogue between stakeholders, allowing for meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences. Participants were also briefed on the latest updates, including newly published and revised standards, reaffirming BIS's unwavering commitment to quality assurance and regulatory excellence.
