APEPDCL, IIT- M startup to hold webinar on saving energy

Visakhapatnam: As part of the resolve to create awareness among consumers on opportunities to reduce electricity costs through efficient power usage, Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) will organise a special webinar on “Energy and Cost Savings – Demand Response” to sensitise industrial and commercial consumers on Thursday.
APEPDCL has invited industrial and commercial consumers across its jurisdiction to participate in the webinar. Consumers who actively participate and demonstrate effective electricity consumption management will be recognized, and incentives worth a total of Rs10 lakh will be awarded to the best-performing consumers from the industrial and commercial sectors.
The webinar will be organised by the Commercial Department of APEPDCL in association with Elements Energy, an energy technology startup from IIT Madras, under the directions from APEPDCL Chairman & Managing Director Immadi Prudhvi Tej.
During the webinar, consumers will be educated about the demand response mechanism and the Time of Day (ToD) tariff system. Under this system, electricity usage is categorized into peak, off-peak, and normal hours. industries will be informed about the benefits of shifting high-energy consumption activities from peak hours to off-peak hours, thereby reducing electricity costs.
