Bhamini (Parvatipuram Manyam dist): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his son and IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh turned teachers by interacting with students asking them certain questions and suggesting on how to improve their language power at the mega parent-teacher meeting held here on Friday.

They said that due to reforms implemented in school education, there will be far-reaching changes and Andhra Pradesh is set to emerge as a role model motivating other States to emulate. Lokesh said the change will be significant in three years.

They also turned students in a classroom and personally witnessed the teaching methods and classroom clickers programme which helped to provide feedback to teachers on the understanding capacities of students after completion of his/her teaching. The Chief Minister personally checked the understanding and reading capacity of a girl student who secured 73 per cent success rate and advised her to further improve her studies. Earlier both the Chief Minister and Education Minister formally launched the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme.

The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh education system will be developed as a role model for the entire country and as part of it, integration of technology and creativity should be encouraged in the education system. Naidu said a student innovative partnership summit will be organised in January last week to promote innovation spirit among students. Industrialists also will be invited and rewards will be presented to the best innovation projects of students. In addition financial assistance will be provided to aspiring students who want to pursue higher studies abroad with 25 paise interest rate under Kalalaku Rekkalu scheme.

Addressing parents and teachers meeting at AP Model school here, the Chief Minister said that he was happy to know the learning skills of students. Stating that the future is for young people as India is blessed with a more young population. Stressing the need for moral value based education, he said that teaching moral values to students is important and as part of it the government appointed Chaganti Koteswara Rao for this purpose to establish ethics-based society. The NDA government introduced several reforms in the education sector to make the education system in the State a role model.

In school education, 28 reforms were introduced and at Intermediate level 10 reforms were introduced. The Talliki Vandanam scheme is being implemented and he came to know that a mother received Rs90,000 under the scheme for her six children. Quality improved in the mid-day meal scheme and there were no political reflections on school kits. The teachers and students ratio stands at one teacher for 18 students in Government schools whereas in private schools it stands at one teacher for 28 students.

The Chief Minister said to study the best education system round the globe, teachers will be sent to different countries like Finland to implement best practices in our schools. He said the state government is marching ahead with a vision to make Andhra Pradesh as Number one state in the country. He said While the per capita income in AP stands at Rs2.37 lakh, in Parvatipuram it stands at Rs1.43 lakh, in Palakonda Rs1.19 lakh and in Bhamini Rs1.15 lakh and stressed the need for improving per capita income in agency regions also.

Palakonda MLA N Jayakrishna, Principal Secretary of Education Kona Sasidhar, Commissioner Vijayarama Raju, School Headmaster G Babu Rao SMC chairman Vanapalli Ravikumar and others participated.
