Amaravati: The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Friday decided to set up a ministerial sub-committee to study the denotification of nearly seven lakh acres from the prohibited list.

Briefing the media here after the Cabinet meeting, Minister for Housing and I&PR Kolusu Parthasarathy said that the committee after studying various angles will submit a report for initiating action. He alleged the erstwhile YSRCP Government had illegally removed large parcels of land worth crores of rupees from the prohibited list.

The Cabinet approved a proposal to give two cents of land in urban areas and three cents in rural areas to all eligible BPL families. Another important decision was to extend the deadline for regularisation of lands put in 22A and ULC. For the ferroalloys industry, the meeting decided to extend the concessional power tariff scheme. Parthasarathy said the benefit will cost an additional burden of Rs300 crore on the exchequer. The purpose is to benefit 40,000 workers, who are employed by the ferro alloys manufacturing units.

The Chief Minister mooted the idea of setting up of a society for management of anna canteens. Sixty three new canteens were approved at the Cabinet meeting in 62 Assembly segments in addition to 203.

The Cabinet cleared the proposal to allot nearly 4,500 acres to Kopparthi and Orvakal Industrial Corridors through AP Industrial Corridor Infrastructure Development Corporation by exempting stamp duty.

The meeting resolved to consider rationalisation of the village/ward secretariat system introduced by the previous government so as to ensure real-time governance.

While giving clearance to construction of two mini hydel power projects near Gouthu Latchanna bridge and Thatipudi Reservoir, the Cabinet resolved to consider allowing Self-Help Groups for management of mini power projects.

Naidu at the meeting directed the Ministers concerned to expedite construction of Polavaram diaphragm wall and Amaravati capital construction works.
