Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh seems all set to witness double bonanza in the New Year with the launching of Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) Park near Vijayawada and the operations of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) from Visakhapatnam.

The three-party NDA alliance wants to transform Visakhapatnam, the largest city in the two Telugu States after Hyderabad into a tech and innovation hub on the lines of Silicon Valley, The government has hired temporary space at Medha Towers to operate the AQV till the construction of the buildings is completed at Amaravati. Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has allotted 50 acres for the quantum valley buildings.

After signing MoU with IBM, TCS and L&T on May 2, the government announced that the AQV will be made operational on January 1, 2026.

At the 30th edition of CII Partnership Summit, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has a strong resolve to position Andhra Pradesh as the quantum capital of the world, announced that the State will produce indigenously built quantum computers in next two to three years. As part of creating the ecosystem, the State has also signed MoUs with many organisations to roll out quantum-ready skilled workforce.

Sources told Bizz Buzz that the authorities are identifying 200 acres of additional land through APIIC adjacent to Amaravati for hardware manufacturing for quantum technologies. As part of Amaravati Quantum Valley Declaration, Andhra Pradesh is eyeing to attract investments in quantum technology to the tune of $500 million by 2027 with the goal of raising it to $1 billion by January 1, 2029. The ultimate aim is to make Andhra Pradesh a leading hub in quantum innovation, R&D and manufacturing, with a dedicated quantum fund of Rs1,000 crore and an active involvement of the industries.

There is slight delay in launching the operations from temporary premises allotted at Millennium Towers at Rushikonda for TCS though Cognizant has already commenced its ad hoc campus at a rented premises and performed the ground-breaking ceremony by inviting the Chief Minister and IT Minister Nara Lokesh a fortnight ago. Both the IT giants were allotted land at a prime place, each nearly 20 acres each on payment of just 99 paise per acre as part of policy to extend a red carpet welcome to anchor investors.

After Cognizant and TCS, there is buzz that land under this policy is being considered for allotment to Accenture and Infosys. While Cognizant is investing Rs1,583 crore on its 8,000 seater permanent campus to be ready in 2029, TCS has announced an investment of Rs1370 crore on its developmental center.

TCS has been given Blocks 16 and 17 of Millennium Towers on Hill No. 3 of Rushikonda IT Park. The company is expected to start the temporary facility with 2,000 employees and later scale it up to 12,000 in phases. The permanent campus will be ready for operations by 2027. Till then, TCS will operate from 2.08 lakh sft allotted to it at Millennium Towers.
