AP Health varsity decides to give grants to govt medical colleges

Vijayawada: Dr NTR University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Dr P Chandrasekhar on Monday announced support to various medical colleges to strengthen after the 24th executive council adopted several resolutions.
The university decided to encourage all government medical colleges to hold alumni meets with an announcement on allotment of Rs10 lakh as a grant per year to conduct old students alumni meetings for next three years. Each college will get Rs10 lakh. The meetings shall be conducted with the help of Old Students Associations.
The Vice Chancellor said each government medical college will be given a separate grant of Rs10 lakh every year to provide assistance in playgrounds and conduct Inter University/State / National tournaments. This will help in the development of culture of sports and attract students to actively participate in outdoor and physical activities.
The executive council approved to provide undergraduate student research scholarships (UGSRS) to 1,000 students every year. The meeting approved to provide faculty research grants to 200 faculty members instead of 25 faculty members who are working in the Affiliated colleges.
