AP Govt suspends IPS Officer Sunil Kumar

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Government has placed under suspension PV Sunil Kumar, a DGP rank IPS officer for undertaking foreign trips without obtaining prior approval, thereby violating all India service rules. In a GO, the Chief Secretary stated that Sunil Kumar, IPS (RR:1993), DGP (waiting for posting), has undertaken multiple foreign visits without obtaining prior permission from the government. In certain cases, he deviated from the travel plan approved by the government, thereby violating the terms of permission granted.
The GO stated that on 28.02.2024, the government accorded permission to Sunil Kumar, to visit Georgia by sanctioning CL for two days on 1.03.2024 and 4.03.2024, with permission to avail public holidays on 2.03.2024 and 3.03.2024. However, the officer visited the UAE on his own, in deviation from government orders.
The order said Sunil Kumar visited Sweden from 2.09.2023 to 11.09.2023, traveling from Hyderabad to Sweden via Flight No. EK-525 (Departure) and returning via Flight No. EK-526 (Arrival), without obtaining prior permission. The officer visited the USA from 1.02.2023 to 28.02.2023, traveling from Hyderabad to the USA via Flight No. EK-525 (Departure) and returning via Flight No. EK-524 (Arrival), without obtaining prior permission.
