Amaravati: The State Cabinet has given its stamp of approval for development of Krishna riverfront in the capital region as a marina to make Amaravati as tourist spot and expedite the process for acquisition of lands under Land Pooling Scheme (LPS)-2 by convincing the farmers from neighbouring villages to develop a sports village, international airport and other amenities.
The issue, which figured at the recently held 57th meetng of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) , will call for tenders under the Public-Private Partnership model for comprehensive waterfront beautification, landscaping and required infrastructure to attract tourists.
The government has plans to explore developing a beachfront of 15 km at Suryalanka (Bapatla), and small islands near Sullurpeta. Land allotments were made to several investors in Suryalanka to develop it on the lines of Goa with a good number of star hotels and resorts. Tourism is proposed to be developed in Konaseema, Pulicat and Visakhapatnam clusters with specific themes besides exploring the potential of Anantapur and Gandikota. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is keen on promoting island tourism in Andhra Pradesh drawing inspiration from the success story of Maldives.
The proposals included creating jetties, leisure tourism boats, food plazas and other facilities for recreation on the Krishna riverfront area in the capital region. Additional land will be acquired for the Seed Access Road.
