Amaravati: The recent decision to collaborate with IBM and TCS for establishing India's first Quantum Valley Tech Park at Amaravati is expected to position Andhra Pradesh as a prominent player in fast-developing quantum computing.

The field, which is at nascent stage with experts predicting ushering in of revolutionary changes in materials science, drug discovery and financial modelling with growing emphasis on developing more stable and powerful quantum processors with a robust error rectification system, promises a window of opportunities. The park will be anchored by an IBM Quantum System Two installation, with a 156-qubit Heron quantum processor, the largest quantum computer in India.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already announced the decision to make the park operational from January 1, 2026, which drew high praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Amaravati restart meeting on May 2. On Thursday, the State Cabinet chaired by Naidu, ratified the decision of allotting 50 acres by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

Asked for his comments on the initiative, Sreedhar Kosaraju, Director, APDTI (AP Digital Technology Industry) Network, told Bizz Buzz that the collaboration between the Government of Andhra Pradesh, IBM, and TCS to establish India’s first Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati is not just a milestone—it’s a giant leap toward securing India’s position as a global leader in quantum computing.

He said "with IBM’s 156-qubit Quantum System Two—India’s most powerful quantum computer—and TCS’s expertise in hybrid computing, we are building an ecosystem where businesses, researchers, and startups can harness quantum technology to solve some of the most complex challenges in healthcare, finance, logistics, cybersecurity, and sustainable manufacturing..etc. This initiative will serve as the bedrock of innovation, fostering cutting-edge research, industry-academia partnerships, and real-world quantum applications that were once thought impossible."

He said in the long run, this will:accelerate India’s National Quantum Mission, driving breakthroughs in quantum algorithms and applications that demonstrate quantum advantage—where quantum computers outperform classical ones. He said it will create high-skilled jobs and attract global investments, positioning Andhra Pradesh as the "Quantum Capital of India" and a hub for deep-tech innovation.

Meanwhile, the initiative in Andhra Pradesh has hit headlines in prominent international publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and TechCrunch, according to Minister for MSMEs and NRI Relationship Srinivas Kondapalli. He took to Linkedin to say "a silent revolution has begun in Andhra Pradesh. What seemed like a quiet announcement is now the subject of global headlines." He hastened to add, "this is not a project. It's a promise to create jobs, attract talent, and put Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of

global innovation."
