Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed the officials to take up action plan to set up solar panels on 438 government office buildings to produce 150 MW of power.

He also took a decision to extend the incentives to ferro alloys companies for one more year. With this the government has to bear a burden of Rs1,053 crore.

Speaking at a review meeting on power sector at Secretariat here, the Chief Minister directed the officials to reduce the power transmission losses which stands at 9.20 per cent at present. He advised the officials to enter into power swapping agreements with other states to reduce the power purchase burden.

Naidu said that under PM Kusum project 4,792 mw of power should be produced.

The Chief Minister said that the power project companies which come forward to set up Integrated clean Energy policy should implement their action plan within sixty days. Stressing the need for making Andhra Pradesh as New Energy Hub, the Chief Minister suggested several measures to reduce power generation cost. When Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand informed the Chief Minister that the power purchase price came down in the first quarter of the year and as a result of Electrical Power Monitoring System the government is able to save Rs400 crore to Rs500 crore.

Responding over the power cost saving measures, the Chief Minister said that quality power should be supplied to both domestic and industrial sectors. He said officials should identify the possibilities of producing power in the Irrigation and Endowments lands.
