Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate an additional ₹5,000 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.

During his visit to Delhi, called on Sitharama and made a strong pitch for financial assistance from the Centre for several developmental initiatives being undertaken in Andhra Pradesh and highlighted that so far, the State has received ₹2,010 crore under the (SASCI) scheme.

Earlier, a high-level team led by Naidu and comprising State Finance Minister Payyavula Kesav, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjerapu Ram Mohan Naidu and TDP Parliamentary Party leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayu met 16th Finance Commission Chairman Arvind Pangaria at Vyapar Bhavan.

Naidu submitted a representation to Sitharaman seeking an additional allocation of ₹5,000 crore for pending capital projects in the State. The memorandum also requested necessary orders on the proposals submitted by the State Government for the release of ₹250 crore under the Single Nodal Agency (SNA Sparsh) incentive scheme guidelines for the financial year 2024-25.

Welcoming the Purvodaya scheme announced by the Centre for the integrated development of eastern States, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh would greatly benefit from and urged the Centre to finalise the modalities for implementing the scheme at the earliest.
