Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday gave its stamp of approval to the recommendations of State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) for 30 investment proposals envisaging a total investment of Rs 1.15 lakh crore.
All the projects cleared by SIPB at its 11th meeting are scheduled to launch operations by 2027-28.
Prominent among the projects approved includes Google’s hyperscale data center in Visakhapatnam, representing a near $10 billion investment that ranks among the largest digital infrastructure and FDI commitments in India.
The center with multiple locations in the city and undersea cable network is expected to contribute an average of Rs10,518 crore to GSDP annually during the initial five years of operations (2028–2032), while supporting approximately 1,88,220 direct and indirect jobs per year across construction, data center operations, engineering, information technology, and supply chain functions. Beyond direct operations, Google Cloud’s productivity-led impact is expected to add Rs9,553 crore annually (amounting to Rs47,720 crore over five years) through digital enablement across the economy. At the national level, comparable digital infrastructure hubs are modeled to unlock up to $2.1 trillion in value addition and support 10 million jobs by 2047. The data center project is aligned with the State’s push for green data centers integrated with renewable energy sources. The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu approved allotment of land for Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)'s propellant motors and integrated weapon systems in Prakasam district.
